Home is the Key

I can not tell you after a year not having a “home” it has brought such new perspective and relaxation to our lives to be in our home. After being in  a camper for 6 long months during construction made us so grateful to be in our house more then ever. I’ve never felt more grateful and blessed in my life. Its truly humbling to go through an experience where you feel like where you come home everyday doesn’t feel like home, so when you get it back what an amazing feeling. I have to say it gave me such a new perspective on life and how the importance of home is for my family and my peace. Something about coming home and the load of the world seems to disappear. The comfort and convenience of home is something  I’ll never take for granted. Having a clean and comfortable bed, hot shower, the people I love around me, and the everyday necessities are truly a gift. Well, that brings me to this campaign that I am passionate about even more so then ever, Habitat for Humanity’s Home is the Key. The fact that this company gives back to the community and to those that are in need of the most desirable yet most valuable in terms of living a “home” is truly a beautiful thing…and I couldn’t be more happy then to help bring insight to their recent funding for their newest project.

How does it feel to be able to give people all the comforts and small luxuries of home? Having a place to escape the day, a place to be with their loved ones, a place that feels clean and satisfying, and where they will raise their children, and lay their head down at night. I promise you, I never felt so lost and so shaken then those 6 months where we lived in a camper and our lives felt so upside down. Though we had each other and we had something so much bigger to look forward to, nothing felt more unsettling then the days we weren’t sure we would have  hot water, or the constant lack of space, storage, and comfort. It was tough but it was worth every minute for our new home and for this new form of gratitude I feel daily. I thank god for showing me that.
