Painting our Faux Fireplace

So you guys, we have been in major limbo over here. Our lives seem to be upside down still looking for a house to buy and not quite sure what is going to happen within the next few weeks or months. It’ so tough feeling like we can’t do much to our current house, or prepare a new home. I just absolutely hate this process of buying and selling and can’t wait for the Lord to just show us what he has in store for our family. Until then…I’ve decided to do a few changes in our house, like paint our Master Bedroom Faux Fireplace.

If you remember how our fireplace started, with a faux brick chimney, and then we built the fireplace mantel around it. We did this about 2 years ago, and it made such a difference in our room. Definitely created a vintage feel and added some charm.

I decided two years ago that I would do a dry brush technique to the mantel and really loved it for a while. Then this past year I just kept feeling like it was just a little dingy looking. I really wanted to created a fireplace that felt cleaner and newer. I thought since there was already so much texture from the “faux bricks” I wanted to create the mantel to be just one solid color. I decided to just paint it white. I still don’t feel there is a right or wrong answer to this mantel finish…my husband still likes the way before, but I just wanted something just fresher and newer. I overall like the new look better. I just painted it with some left over paint that I had on hand. The color is my all time favorite white (simply white by Benjamin Moore).

Thoughts? I hope you guys like it as much as I do. I definitely feel it made our room feel brighter too. Amazing what a little white paint can do!

I hope to have an update on our moving situation with you guys next week. Lots of prayers for the right home to come on the market, and for us to feel at Peace with our decision.
