Visiting Magnolia

Well, if you haven’t heard yet…it’s no secret, I just came back from visiting Magnolia last week! It was the most amazing experience, and I felt like I was right where I belonged. Back track to the beginning of March when the hubbby came home with a printed letter for me sharing that we would be visiting the Silos for my birthday. I think I nearly fell on my face when I opened up the paper. The thoughts that went through my mind…”is this a joke” “we don’t have that kind of money for a Magnolia birthday trip” “okay, pinch me”.

It was a dream come true!

So, he happened to be going to a conference for work right down in Austin, and since Waco is only about an hour and a half drive from Austin, he figured we could spend a few days together down there which just happened to fall right in the middle of my birthday! Woo-hoo it was real we were going! No, joke, no dreaming, just a dream come true. My man knows his lady very well!

So, with my parents approval to watch the kids for two days, I met the hubby down in Austin at the end of his conference (had almost a panick attack that I was flying down alone), and rented a car picked him up at the hotel and we were on our way!

First signs of Waco!!!

I think when we passed our first mile marker approaching Waco, I finally realized this dream of mine was a reality, we were so close!

Did I mention I was running on an hour and a half sleep, because I couldn’t sleep the night before…so though my body was shutting down from the long day I couldn’t sleep, not now I was almost there!

So, we arrived at the Hilton which was a great and so perfectly located where you can walk to the restaurants and have a great view and walk through those magnificent bridges that they share on the clips of the Fixer Upper show. I opened up the window and there they were…

Staring right at me were the Silos. I had no idea we were going to be that close. I was ready to take that shower that I desperately needed after the flight and drive over and then get my little butt over to the Silos before they closed for the night.

A short walk over, which was peaceful and beautiful. I just loved every minute of being in Waco…it truly is a beautiful town.

It was magnificent! I mean just exactly how you imagined it with the barn doors and the black and white striking appearance. It was my Christmas Morning!

So we got there 5 mins before closing, which was not a problem since we would have the entire day tomorrow…but I figured we could scope it out take some photos now (while it wasn’t packed) and get an idea of what would be in my shopping bag the next day.

So the Silos are an amazing back drop to the store. Just a gigantic chippy, yet fabulous structure. I mean you can’t get anymore farmhouse then this. The lawn was fantastic and if we had the kids with us they probably would have loved spending the time there. Each white picnic table was straight out of the cliche fixer upper look. The garden was closed down, but from what you could see it was going to beautiful to shop there as well.

I did get to take a photo is this gorgeous garden chair though…I need one of these!

What was really gorgeous (and I should have taken a photo of this) was the bakery that they are still building. The door was open and we got a sneak peak of the subway tile filled walls and an almost European cottage like feel to the exterior. Every bit of this place was thoughtfully designed with family and fans in mind.

So onto a FABULOUS dinner over at Diamond Back Steak house and a good night sleep and I’d be back with my shopping bag in hand.

You probably all caught this photo of me on Instagram celebrating my birthday with my Magnolia bag. I don’t think it could have been any better then this. Well, maybe if the sun came out (very typical of my birthday to be cloudy and cool…I didn’t think it would follow me to Texas though).

I could have bought just about everything in sight. The hubby didn’t give me a budget which was extremely sweet…but I didn’t want to go overboard either the trip was costly enough. I have to admit I think the pricing was actually really reasonable for the products. A few things were a little pricey especially the more “tourist” products. Other then that (maybe I’m just use to Jersey pricing) I felt pretty comfortable spending the money I had on the products that I got.

Can you say, huge?!

We stopped over to take a look inside at the old Magnolia store. I’m not gonna lie I think I fell in Love with the inside. It felt cozy and farmhous-y with barn doors and shiplap.

We stopped over at Harp design which was great to see as well. I loved that their house was right next door which I had no idea about. I think I may have been more excited to see the house then the shop. We stopped inside which was pretty quiet, and I picked up a Tic-Tac toe set for the kids. I was hoping to get my hands on those spindles that Clint makes, but no luck didn’t see any.

and then a 20 min drive to the Magnolia House

We met a really nice couple from Massachusetts that was road tripping and they snapped this photo of us.

I love the house from the last episode too! Just so breathtaking in person.

We stopped in at a local anituque shop and of course celebrated with a birthday cupcake at the Cuppie Cake spot around the corner. The locals are so friendly and they are all so excited at how the show has just brought so much attention to the community. They even have a sign in book for tourists to list where they are from.

We took one more trip back to Waco, visiting another store close by to Magnolia, and then on our way we went to Dallas to catch our flight.

We had such a blast, it was my kind of fun for sure. If The Gaines’ were stopping in that day, that would of been the icing on the cake (no pun intended) and this birthday girl would have been complete with my Waco experience!
