Regal Old World Pond Inspiration

We are in the process of creating a backyard pond for our ducks and I want to take you on this journey with me and share with you some of the pictures that inspire me. I envision a beautiful Chateau worthy fountain garden pond that has an old world vibe and looks as if it has been there for years but I also have to consider the fact that I do live in the woods and the pond is mainly for the ducks to enjoy so the design will have to flow with the trees and be duck friendly as well.

Below I have collected a few of my favorite inspirational photos that have captured the old world fountain garden look that I am trying to achieve for my backyard pond.

Its all about a good view, seeing that amazing house in the background is so stunning! I love the layers of flowers around the pond, which is something we are definitely going to incorporate.

My ducks would be thrilled to hang out here all day, the cutest little duck landing pad.

Even the smallest of ponds feels so dreamy in a yard. The rocks, flowers, and that sweet little bench!

Water features, water lillies and greenery add a Palace of Versailles look that I love. I considered a structured pond border, but again it did not seem to flow with where we lived so I decided for a more natural feel.

I love a beautiful concrete bowl pond…I mean this could be amazing in any garden.

This pond is one of the ponds that stuck out to me. Having a natural feel, but then that beautiful sculptural fountain…I’m on the hunt for something like this!

DREAM pond!

Again that feel of having a sculptural fountain…these can be very pricey, so I’m hoping to find one either on marketplace or at the flea this summer.

The backdrop of trees behind these fountain garden ponds are so incredibly beautiful and inspirational since my home backs up to the woods.

Peaceful! We will definitely have some chairs hanging by our pond. I truly love the feel of a no rock border, but our pond installer explained it would not work for the purpose of having the ducks and keeping everything neat. We especially need a filter since the ducks would be swimming, so I’ll explain more about that in tomorrow’s post.

This is such a beautiful secret garden pond look!

I hope you have been inspired by today’s post and I can not wait to share with you the finished pond and how I transform it into a beautiful old word inspired pond.

  1. I’d love to have a pond. I must settle on a water feature for our backyard but your inspiration has given me some ideas that I can use. Lovely! I am looking forward to seeing your completed projects. Excited for you!

  2. The photos are simply beautiful. In my dreams I have a garden like this. Thanks for sharing the images.

  3. Beautiful inspiration Deb. I love yours. A madonna foundation would be perfect! Remember weather. Will it withstand your weather. Kingsley Bate makes beautiful teak benches which lasts a lifetime and holds up to all weather. I have several and worth the investment. Also check Oceanicteak. You are off to a great start! Love it! ♥️

  4. I love the inspiration photos and can not wait to see what you come up with. Unfortunately, I live in the south and will not attempt a pond because of the snakes!
