DIY Lace Heart Bags

So this weekend, I threw a really great Bridal shower for my friend. It was myself, her sister, and another friend of hers. A lot of ideas were meshed together to create a beautiful Rustic Style Shower. The setting was in a gorgeous little barn up in PA, close to where the bride lives, and the view as well as the setting was all of what a Rustic party should be. The decorations added to the pretty little rustic style, and when the bride arrived in her cowboy boots, it was no doubt a perfectly planned party to coordinate with her wedding style. I loved creating a rustic and sweet decoration that would also provide some ambiance. What’s better then lace and hearts to do so?

I plan on sharing some more of the shower here later this week, but today just breaking down one of my easy crafts that I had done for the party. I am sharing this here as a craft idea for the Pro Flowers contest. They are currently doing a round up of their favorite crafts to share on their blog, to inspire and spread the word about the “craftyness” of the ladies that help make their African Woven Flower Vases possible. I could not turn down the opportunity, when they had shared how beautiful the artisans in Rwanda take part in creating these beautifully woven vases to help support their families. Of course this blog has got to be more beneficial then just my little creative outlet, so if I can take part in sharing the wonderful creations and benefits of these vases form Pro Flowers I am thrilled to do so!

So on to my cutie little craft that was easy, but I have to say a little bit tedious.

Materials:

Brown bagsĀ

Scissors

cardstock or cardboard (to create a heart cut out)

lace

hot glue

and tea flamless light candles

First step: Cut out heart shape from card stock to place onto paper bag to create the heart cut out.

Step 2: Trace heart, then fold bag in half, cut heart shape through both sides of bag.

Step 3: Cut lace squares to place inside of bag

Step 4: (this is where it gets a bit annoying) glue lace inside of bag covering heart, repeat on opposite side of bag.

Step 5: Fold over top of bag, and place flame-less tea light inside for ambiance.

It’s hard to tell in the below photos of the candle, but we had these lined up on the stairs in the barn to create more of that romantic rustic feel.

That simple, a great way if you are planning a rustic party Ā to create a cute and cheap decorative ambiance effect. This would be great for a evening party outdoors as well…just fill bag up with some rocks to keep bag from blowing away.

Can’t wait to share more details later this week!

  2. Hello, I live in PA and am trying to find places for a rustic wedding. Can you share where this shower was or any pictures?

    1. Hi Heidi, absolutely! I’ll be posting this week more pictures of the shower, but for now I’ll give you the name of the place. We had the shower in the small barn, but they have a bigger barn where they host large weddings. It’s called Memorytown and it is in Mt. Pocono, PA. Good luck, I hope this is helpful!
