Its been a bit since I had an update on the house here and though some of the progress slowed down we are getting some major details finally done. I recently had our pantry doors and organization put in and though we are still a bit away from deciding on floors…we got the cabinets painted! An unexpected color for my neutral loving heart, but I wanted something unique that felts a little like visiting a cafe in Europe.
BEFORE of our once kitchen turned pantry
quite a bit of work has been one with this space since removing that peninsula, refinishing the ceiling in new drywall, painting the walls, and removing the closet to create our refrigerator and pantry nook. Also,t he hutch and closet doorway was closed off. Our amazing contractor did all this for us- and now for the DIY.
I had thought about a ton of colors and even had a more neutral shade painted originally. It was nice but I didn’t want nice…I wanted something a little more!
Blues, greens, black…were top contenders, but what won the battle was the cranberry/deep-red shade. The color: Borsch1 by SW
Its still a work in progress as you can tell the floors are still in desperate need for us to making a decision about. The wall (Kilim Beige SW) my new fav color added the perfect warmth to this space. I still need another coat on the cabinets, dark colors are harder to get right so consider a high quality paint and good foam roller (which I haven’t used yet) and brush.
You may have seen the debate on social if you follow us there, about doing something temporary and DIY with the floors or something permanent. Its been a hard decision with our budget and the fact that these floors slope very badly. Paint, peel and stick, and laminate floors have been on the table…but I just don’t quite know!
Looking forward to sharing more here soon…and our kitchen which is being installed as we speak!
GET THE LOOK!

I too lean more to neutral colors, with pops of moody colors here and there. And I do love the cranberry/red cabinet – it makes a big difference in the overall look. Good job!
I’m so enjoying seeing your beautiful home come together. What a dream come true . I love everything about your story. 15 years ago, my husband and I bought an unkept and abandoned farm. We have lovingly restored it. It has been a labor of love. You can see it at PeacockRidgeFarm.com. Ours is only 35 years old, but it was a terrible 1980’s home. Blessings to you.
