All Moved in!

I am here for an update to all my blog community here. I know sometimes I am better about keeping my instagram and Facebook community updated more but I realize not everyone is on social media and so I am just finally getting some time to pop in and post an update with you all. Its been a few weeks of me being quiet here and that’s for good reason. We have been packing, cleaning, and moving the last two weeks. We finally settled into our new home “The Mountain Chateau” last Sunday. Still fully exhausted from our move and settling into the dusty home renovation here. We are quite a bit aways from this house feeling like home but we are thankful to have a place to park it and watch the progress unfold around us. Just to be on the job with the contractors and workers to see progress and talk through issues instead of being 2 hours away has been incredibly helpful.

I will tell you moving into a renovation is not for everyone it takes true sacrifice of your patience  , privacy, and cleanliness. I mean dust and debris just about everywhere from all the work being done around us. We were hopeful that the “big stuff” was done by this point but we discovered another plumbing dilemma that opened our dining room (soon to be kitchen) ceiling up and our downstairs flooring is still an up in the air decision for refinishing or not. We currently have one semi-finished bathroom that we are all using and that makes it much easier to be here.

We are camped out upstairs on the 3rd floor since our goal was to have the third floor painted and floors finished by move in day and thankful they were. We found out yesterday that the refinishing of the floors on the 2nd floor are now delayed by 3 days again so that set us back a bit from getting more settled. We are waiting for floors and more paint to be done before moving our furniture in next month.  The floors take about 10-14 days total for prep, sand, stain, and 3 coats of poly. We decided on special walnut stain to try to keep with the classic color of the house and to match the existing stair stain color.

Wallpaper and tile was installed this week in our soon to be primary bath, and our marble slabs for our shower were templated for install in 2 weeks.

We are using the “original” kitchen for now until our propane gets hooked up so we can then hook up our new kitchen range and washer and dryer since those will be propane fitted. I went to the laundromat yesterday and for the first time ever had my laundry done and folded by a professional and I think it was the greatest thing I’ve ever treated myself too lol.

As for our animals they are all settling in the best that they can be. We haven’t built the duck run yet for our ducks so they currently have been in our garage which makes things a bit more difficult and smellier. Our duck run will be built this week along with the pond so within a week the ducks will be feeling right at home again.

Overall we are managing, feeling crazy blessed to be here, and looking forward to our new life and home here in PA.

  1. May the Lord bless you with Patience, Good Weather, preposed dates & times be Right On Target❣️

  2. Moving into a fully ready home is not easy so I can only imagine how out of sorts your and your family (and your critters!) feel! God’s blessings upon y’all. It all gets done in His time. I can’t wait to see the progress you are making with your remodels.

  3. My cousin and her husband were the previous owners and I have been to their home numerous times over the last 45 years. I grew up on that same mountain when my parents bought our home when I was 15. I love the historical homes from the 1900’s. I’m glad you are so passionate about remodeling the home and love your work. You are just what that house needed. Happy remodeling and keep the pictures and updates coming!
