Hello Friends are you all thinking about outdoor styling and gardening? I know I am! Its been a bit slow here as I always anticipate it but I also know there’s a budget in mind and weather that we need to wait for. So I started with a much needed area that could be budget friendly and easy to tackle before the weather completely turns.
Our Front Porch/Entryway Mini Makeover
When we moved into the Mountain Chateau, I truly loved how some of the trim and door colors that had a brown tone that complimented our stone exterior. The original trim and tones were burgundy and some of the siding and corbels on the house still remain in this burgundy color which in time I plan to update. I think the moody brown was a good idea but one color that popped into my head was Dragon’s Breath by Benjamin Moore. It’s a color we used in our first house in our dining room and our interior doors. Its a muddy taupe color so it reads both brown and taupe/charcoal. I thought how perfect of a color that would give us warmth and contrast. So when it came time to re-painting our front door I decided to not even test it but just give it a go! Surprise to me that it wasn’t too much different than what was there but it definitely had more of a muddy tone than the brown that was there before (sorry I forgot a before pic) A much better brownish color and with a satin finish had a softer look to this over 100 year old door and side lights. Its not perfect the door has some age and probably should be completely stripped but I decided for now a fresh paint would be best and quickest to get us through this next season. Now…to do the rest of the trim on the house and paint the stucco a creamy less Yellow tone.
After, the front door makeover it was time for a new rug and some fresh boxwoods to give our front porch a fresh classic look.
I selected this 5 x 8 area rug that really grounds this area and adds a bit of pattern. It made all the difference to this space for a quick and inexpensive makeover.
