Home Candle Studio Organization

Hi there friends, its been a month of a ton of deep cleaning and organizing here! Myself and my husband have been all about getting rid of the “stuff” and working towards getting some of the areas in our house organized. That means even some of the spaces that are not so fun! We cleaned up the basement, garage, and upstairs storage room in the past few weeks…and gosh it feels so good! With all the donating and dumping…I finally decided to do something with my candle studio which is our upstairs’ room. What was once our “craft” room then turned to remote learning room and now has become the candle studio space. Its the perfect spot to keep that part of my business in its own room. So many boxes, and products that I use to help run a candle business, which requires me to have a designated space and so it was time to get it organized and beautiful so it can function better day to day.

This is a collaborative post with Walmart, all opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Lets take a look at the BEFORE first, Its was bad!!!!!!

boxes everywhere!!!!

So many of us are working from home these days and our work spaces are so important to keep organized and beautiful. We have our office in the house which hosts most of our paperwork and printer etc. but the honest truth I usually work from the kitchen. I don’t like to feel restricted to one area of the house. It’s important for us to have that space, but I truly love to feel free when I work. I even work from the couch somedays. Well, one of the other avenues to my business on top of running a blog is my recent candle line, fleur & flame. Its been quite a journey and its been fun to be creative in a different avenue. It also means I have more products that I am ordering to run this business that requires a space to store it all. The idea of moving to a rented space/store front has been running in my head for a while now, but at this small stage of the business it just doesn’t quite make sense yet…so that lead to finally just making up my mind and getting upstairs organized and pretty.

First, hubby built me some temporary tables to have a packing zone and pour zone. Up until now I have been doing most of my packing in the kitchen and its not the most practical way to do things. A ton of running up and down the stairs and then the paper shred gets all over the house. I am moving things in boxes constantly and lets say I have been working harder than smarter…so this ability to have a separate zone to pack on a tabletop is going to be HUGE for the business this year.

We added this tile behind the sink and of course I had to style it with some vintage artwork. Next to the sink I have more acrylic bins to store my candle oils.

Next, I decided I needed to make things “pretty” if I am going to keep in neat. Its just how my mind works if I know something looks good I’ll work at trying to keep it nice. If something feels junky I just give up on it…so I knew that creating a space that feels more inspiring would help a ton!

This little turn table piece is so idea for selecting my oils for when I need them. I think I might buy another one for my pantry its so cool!

So we added some bead-board behind the tables and I painted them in a really pretty green color. Going for that European industrial feel., for my European inspired candle line. When I think about European kitchens they all have these simple tables for counters and of course curtains to hide much of the storage. So now it started feeling more and more like a better place to work and a prettier place to work, but last was coming up with storage solutions for the products I need for making and packing the candles. Its been a ton of cardboard boxes EVERYWHERE for a year and so I decided to turn to Walmart for some smart storage solutions for the space. They just dropped a new line of products from the Netflix star’s/ home organizer’s The Home Edit. I really loveeee how they organize and I am not nearly as good at it, but their options with clear storage bins, turn tables, and containers was a good mix for the products I need so I can see them and to blend with the style of the room.

SHOP the storage solutions I used for this space!

One of my favorite details was adding these wooden peg hooks to the bead-board. I love keeping tools available when working and having hooks to hang scissors, wires, and labels is not only helpful but also so cute! We just took 3 of these hooks and lined them up together to make this work.

I also store a ton of my craft supplies up here too so that was important for me to find bins for and even this amazing rolling cart to keep supplies I need. Overall I think I now have more bins and organization tools to help me never become that “hot mess” business owner I felt like just a week ago.

Sometimes in organizing it can take a lot longer than we expect it to, but keep working at donating, dumping, and smart “pretty” soltuions to get your space feeling better for a new year.

Is there any area of your home that needs helps? How about a space you have been avoiding? I promise a weekend or even two can help get you feeling better and using your home better with a little help of organizing. Walmart has great solutions for all of this and the best part you can order online and have everything arrive in just a few days. I think your cabinets, office, pantry, and closet space will really function better with a few of these great choices from Walmart.

  1. What a beautiful studio space you’ve created! Love how the new products blend into your style and solve your organizational needs! Inspiring! ????

  2. I’m assuming you painted your rolling drawer unit to get the single-tone drawers. I know curtains sell out and change quickly but what can you tell us about the cafe curtains you used?

  3. I like your blog but It’s so hard to read the post and look at the photos because you have SOOOOOOO many ads popping up right on your photos. It was so annoying. I hope you can have them pop up on the side maybe? Honestly, this would cause me to unsubscribe to a blog and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels that way. 🙁 Other than that, I like your new space 🙂

    1. I’ve worked on a balance with my ads…just think of it like a magazine that you read there are always ads throughout it…and you’re here for FREE!

    1. Thank you Patricia this comment was helpful today! Having a ton of online bullies that have made it harder and harder to be public. People like you continue to make me push through and do what I love.
