Laundry Room Reveal

I can’t believe tomorrow will mark one year since we bought The Mountain Chateau. Its been one heck of a year! To say that selling, moving, and renovating take a lot out of you is an understatement. We certainly have gone through quite the rollercoaster of emotions and moments this past year. We are now in the stages of editing the house and finishing more cosmetic finishes on some of the rooms in the house. There’s still a ton to do, but one room that got a re-makeover this month was our laundry room.

BEFORE Laundry room- original kitchen

Just to backtrack you a bit our laundry room was the original kitchen in the house. Half is used for laundry and the other half is our pantry. Its kind of a scullery of sorts and honestly a room we use a ton. We usually enter the house through this mudroom door and have appliances, refrigerator, and our powder room off this space. You might remember the harlequin floors we did back in the fall and so now was time for a little revamping. I first painted the cabinets in a deep charcoal but just wasn’t feeling it…so we gave it another makeover. A new color and I painted over the granite countertops.

THE AFTER

The one side of the laundry room originally hosted the stove and so we took that out and had our carpenter back in the fall add a closet door and some open shelves instead to make it more useful for the needs of laundry and storing items like dog food, brooms, etc.

Since I am a big fan of these candy stripes right now or cabana stripes I thought why not make it a little playful in here and add that as well.

Two of the easier updates and major transformation was covering the backsplash tile with headboard and then painting the ugly granite countertops. I’ll share more about that in a future post.

Anyhow here we are with our scullery/laundry-garden room…all the above space! its not useful and pretty!
