Our House Decision

Some of my blog readers may be shocked at this blog, where my Instagram/Facebook followers may have already been in the know with some of the decisions we have been thinking on this year. I’ll back up a bit to those that did not hear our first official announcement…

A few months ago we started pursuing Christian school for our kids. Its something that has been on our heart to do since they were very little, but of course many things need to line up to be able to do so. This past year hubby and I were feeling lead that it might just be the time. Our son Anthony, will be going to high school this fall, and our daughter, Gemma will be entering middle school. Two transition years that are both the most impressionable years. I know many families don’t have the option and some have chose home school instead. With much thought and prayer we just both had the same feelings as a family, that a larger Christian school would be best for them and not to put them in a bubble of a small local church school and home school was just not an option for us…AT ALL! Love my children but I am no teacher and running a business and all, I just did not feel that was best for us. With all that said, I know there is no need to explain myself here, I just wanted to paint the picture for those that might think these next words are crazy… we have thought about moving!

Our journey has taken us even out of state since NJ there are just not many options for what we had envisioned for our kids future. 7 years…is all we need! We keep saying 7 years until they are both grown and how quick they will go. We know the sacrifice of leaving home and pursuing the Lord will be a blessing even with challenges. I keep coming back to Matthew 19:29 a verse I had not read until the beginning of this journey which started officially this past October.

We toured Virginia, PA, and one school here in NJ….

So now the decision was left to the Lord and we felt two of these were just not for us…

Now that you are all caught up we can share the news that after much prayer and school tours, house tours, and all… we are MOVING!

(ducks not included lol)

Our kids were just accepted to the school we had our heart on. Details to be announced soon, but we are moving and our house is officially going on the market this week!

Just like our last house we plan to list “For Sale by Owner” and it will be on the market this Friday, February 17th. We will start accepting private showings on Friday and an open house Saturday, Sunday, and Monday10-2:00.

With a for sale by owner we are preferring a no agent deal but if you do have an interest in our home and have a realtor you may have him or her to take you through the house during the private showings. If you don’t and until the blog post you hadn’t thought of selling or buying then we prefer it would be a lawyer to lawyer deal. It is a much easier process… Nothing against realtors but we did For Sale by Owner in our last house and felt it was the best for us. We have put so much into our home and know it will be one that may not need the additional advertisement from realtors which allows us to avoid that 5% commission fee.

I will leave you all with that for today and email our listing when its live on Friday to anyone interested. If you do come out as a serious buyer next weekend we will be there to walk you through and share the details of our customized home. Enjoy some treats and spend time at our European Farmhouse here in NJ. We plan to close in April and will need a rent back until the summer for our kids to finish up school. So more content and shares for a bit longer of this home we love on the blog and IG. If you are eager to see it before the open house, you may contact me (email below) to set up a private tour…again serious buyers only!

Same rug different room…still not sure where I like it better…but here’s a view of our Primary and our office/lounge

A little about our home…

Our 3200 sq ft home is nestled on a 1 acre wooded lot in the town of Farmingdale, NJ. It has custom finishes from inset cabinets, engineer hard wood throughout the home, a walk in pantry, 3 main floor bedrooms (great for those that appreciate ranch style living), a finished basement, bonus room with plumbing on the 2nd floor, a European She Shed, duck or chicken coop, kitchen garden, pond, primary suit with walk in-closet and bathroom, and a spacious open concept floor plan! The construction of our house is only 4 years old with upgrades and finishing touches that will bring your European dream to life here in NJ. 15 mins from the beach,10 mins from Coltsneck (The French market, and Delicious orchards), 20 to Red Bank, and 110 mins to both NYC and Philly. Downtown Farmingdale is conveniently a 2 min drive down the street with hometown places to eat like Connie’s Diner, Tony’s Pizzeria, and Harvest restaurant. Though we live in Farmingdale our neighborhood is zoned for Howell school system. Featured in American Farmhouse Spring 2020 and Country Home Magazine December 2022. Our house we also list on Home Studio List and through local photographers for photo shoots which is a great way to make this house a business if you seek to do the same. Some furniture and décor optional!

We are already praying over the next family that makes this special house their home. It has not been an easy decision and I have cried more than I would like to admit. We know its for the best of our kids future and walk with Lord.

You may email me at my personal email dfoglia413@gmail.com if you are interested in setting up a private tour or have any questions. Our listing will be up on Friday with prices and more details.

I hope you all are ready for another Foglia adventure! Matthew 19:29 remains in my heart and we can’t wait to share where we are moving and the details of our future home soon.

  1. Deb I am so excited for you and your family! God has you all in His hands and we too have often thought of this for our own family. Praying blessings over you all and wishing you and your family a speedy sale and transition! Much love, Kelly

    1. Deb – I am so surprised that you are moving but I see God’s Holy Spirit working in your lives and orchestrating this change. It is wonderful that you are prioritizing your children and family and I can’t wait to see your new home and where this adventure leads you. I wish you every good thing and pray that everything falls into place with ease.

  2. Congratulations!!! I’m so excited for your kids to be in a Christ centered school and to see your new home and follow along as you make it your home ????

  3. Praying that God keeps His hand on this entire process and the right buyers find your beautiful home! I’m encouraged that y’all are following His lead to make these changes for your family! We are in a similar situation ❤️

  4. We moved from S Jersey to Virginia Beach about 30+ yrs ago and love it here. We had built a custom home in NJ and it was very hard to leave but we did. Eventually, other family moved here so it was just like home again! Now we are in our forever home (another custom build) on water and typical Sunday dinner for family numbers about 25! So you will find a new beginning wherever you land! Looking forward to reading about the journey!

  5. So excited for you and your family . I’m sure it’s hard to leave your beautiful home . But the Lord will provide a new place for you and family to make memories in .

  6. Deb, my heart goes out to you! We just sold our property and what I could envision as our “forever home” last September. We relocated to a different state and completely different part of the country. Even though it was tough, we can see God’s faithfulness in every detail. There is so much comfort in knowing Him and surrendering our dreams and plans for His purpose.

  7. Oh wow, whoever buys your home is so lucky!! I love it!! ???? I’m sure it was a hard decision, but I know you’re making the best decision for your children and God will bless. Praying for you and your family, a quick sell and for the next owner. ????

  8. You won’t be sorry. I enrolled my daughter in a “large” (meaning they had all the extra curricular activities-clubs, band, choir, sports) when she entered middle school. Best decision I ever made. It was expensive but worth it.

  9. I had a Catholic education that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I was ahead of all my friends in public school. The focus on Christ and education was everything! I went to a state university for nursing, but back to a Catholic university for my Masters degree. My parents stretched every penny to afford it. I will be forever grateful.

  10. Dear Deb, I can imagine that this was a long, methodical, and difficult decision. You, Dan and children will be in my prayers for your next season. I know it will be sad to leave your home but with every door that closes a new one opens. Walk with the Lord sweet friend! Love, Cat

  11. What a strong message to your children that you value them in such an all encompassing way. As a mom of four aged 20-31, I’m confident they are kind, compassionate and socially engaged individuals because of the building blocks laid way back when. Blessings on your journey

  12. I love that you are making a prayerful decision on how to set your kids up for a strong walk with the Lord. He will bless you mightily as you walk through this next chapter.
    Hugs and blessings to you.

  13. You have such a beautiful home, I can see that it was a difficult decision. We’ve moved several times and this last time hasn’t been easy but God has provided and has been faithful. Here is a quote from C.S.Lewis that I’ve hung on to: ” The Father refreshes us on the journey with some pleasant inns but he will not encourage us to mistake them for home.” May God bless you and your family.

  16. Congrats to you and your family! God leads us where we need to be that’s for sure. I have a question about your cabinet color, meteor. I know you say it is a custom color by the cabinet company. But do you know what color would be closest to that color? I am leaning towards something similar for my 80’s kitchen cabinets and can’t tell if it leans more gray or tan..
