Outdoor Fireplace Patio Reveal

It’s 4 months in the making, but our fireplace patio reveal is finally here! We shared some of the details to our instagram as we had our fireplace built by a professional and then DIY’d the rest the area around the fireplace. Our project included, adding a pea gravel patio, a boxwood hedge, furnishing the area, hanging string lights, and adding a DIY vintage wrought iron gate. Most of this project had many waiting moment of furniture and finding the right time to get it all done…but we finished the last step today by painting the back of the fireplace with black high heat paint, and I decided no more waiting…snap some pics and share it with my readers.

Outdoor Fireplace BEFORE:

This was towards the beginning of our project, we had just cleared out the area, our contractor was in the beginning stages of building out our fireplace, and we were testing out how our iron gate would look.

And the AFTER…

Design details: Our fireplace we had a smooth coat of concrete added to the outside for a simple look. With a smallish budget we were working with this really saved us a ton of money rather than having a stone or brick added to the exterior. The inside we struggled with what to do since a smooth coat would crack, so we just painted it with high heat black paint.

Furniture source:

It took us quite a bit of time to decide on this set. I had plans to add a sectional here at first and we just were not loving how that looked, I also bought a small wicker table for the dining area and that just didn’t feel right either, so I moved our table from the deck down here, and it flowed so nicely with the space and gate. i contemplated this set from Studio McGee’s Target line for a while and finally just decided the size and finish would probably be our best bet…and it turned out even better than I had imagined. The set is the perfect lounge feel and the look gives that true European garden that I just love.

We have a few more details we would like to add to this space, but we are just going to enjoy it now after months and month of hard work and contemplating some of our decisions. I am most excited for when our ivy grows in and to have it cover the face of the fireplace (may take a few years)

  2. Hi from Camano Island, Deb,

Your amazing patience when creating a space is inspiring. I call it “slow designing” and your outdoor space is a perfect example. May it become a joyful gathering place for family and friends.

    Warmly,
