Peaches and Weeds

A summer home tour

Thank you for stopping by on this wonderful summer home tour hosted by Marty, “A stroll Thru Life” It’s a little different summer home tour around here. Though the blogs are the same, the homes are the same, there is just something a little different…the idea of less is more. With stores still closed down and it being much harder to decorate with “new” ideas for this years summer home tour, I decided to switch things up a little bit this year. I decided how about we use what we have! Search for nature, pull together new arrangements, and don’t forget super markets have some of the best items to decorate with especially for a season that has such vibrant fruit, like summer. So this year simple means…using what I have and some peaches and neighborhood weeds. My apology that some of these photos may be slightly blurry- I took all of them and realized as I was editing them that my camera’s setting was adjusted and…well not my happiest moment, but I’d still love for you to come on in and scroll.

If you are stopping by from Heather’s page at “A Southern State of Mind”, welcome! I’m Deb, the face behind Seeking Lavender Lane. I share home decor and DIY with that European Farmhouse vibe. Home is more then just some pretty decor, it’s a place where we can make experiences happen and truly enjoy daily. I share ideas how to make home your place of rest and beauty in my FREE Home Healing group and I like to transform the way a home feels with my candle of the month subscription box. Join today our growing list of ladies that are enjoying their monthly fleur & flame candles (hand poured soy wax candles).

So, first step to decorating with what you have for a seasonal tour is using items that “feel” like that season. For me…summer is a always a little more lighter and brighter. I like more white decor, textiles, and accessories. I also choose a lot more flowers, and of course some good wicker texture is always a fav. So here’s how to toss together a look that feels fresh for summer without spending a dime.

  1. Pick some weeds! You heard me, grab some pretty looking weeds and stems from your walk around the block. God even made some weeds pretty!

and then there’s fruit…lemons, peaches, figs, plums…whatever feels like summer to you in your home, display them for simple and inexpensive decor.

I loved the idea of peaches displayed in the kitchen especially since they go so well with my new vintage print of “peaches” that I added to the hood. Download your own vintage peach print…click below!

Step 3: bring out all the “summery” items out of your kitchen drawers to display like a vintage ice-cream scoop, fresh white linens and tea towels.

Step 4: who said terracotta has to be outside, bring some in to display and don’t forget your indoor plants (I have here our lemon tree and fig tree in aged terracotta).

Step 4: Put your summery clothing on display. Garden boots by the doorway, a hanging dress from a closet door, a display of brimmed hats.

Don’t forget to pick those blooms in your own garden, we have some lush David Austin roses growing on the side of our house and they are my favorite!

Thank you so much for stopping by today’s tour…I wish my photos were a little less blurry, but hopefully it was still enjoyable. Be sure to stop by all the other tours this week and head on over to my friend Yvonne and her beautiful home at Stone Gable.
