Remote Porch Screens

I truly love the rural life…as a young girl I was always dreaming of moving to the BIG city and thought NYC would be my future. Little did I know that years of commuting to a NYC job was not exactly as exciting as I had hoped. Don’t get me wrong, NY is wonderful and so are other beautiful cities I have visited, London being my favorite, but I prefer my quiet rural lifestyle. What’s nice about where we live, we have a quiet neighborhood, private backyard, and yet we are 10-15 mins from all the stores. We even have a downtown area that I dream of flipping someday. Its got a ton of old school charm, but lacks some cuteness and chic vibes. The one negative I can say about living in a rural area…is that we have a ton of BUGS! I have seen bugs here in our current home I have never seen before. It’s probably the only part I enjoy about winter is not having to worry about flies coming inside or being attacked by the never ending amounts of bugs. But let’s face it when do we enjoy being outside most??? Spring and summer when all the bugs are out! I love being on the porch its been a dream to have a porch to hang out on and one of the first details to our renovation in 2018 was to make sure we had a porch added to our home.

This leads me to THE BEST solution EVERRRR!!! We had been talking about having a screened in porch or something to prevent the bugs for a while now. My biggest concern about having a screened in porch was the lack of light into the house (since our house is too dark already) I wanted no bugs not no light…so when I was approached by Somfy about their motorized products I was ecstatic to see this product that they offered. It allowed us to have that old-fashion screened in porch feel with the new-school idea of being able to tuck them away when we weren’t using them. It also allows privacy for when we are out on our porch just hanging out lounging. We are just in awe of this product and I can say every person we have showed it to so far has been super impressed with it too. Its a great conversation piece!

Our setup was a day of work for the local install team here in NJ, Valiant Home. They were professional and proficient and I could not believe how smooth this process was. They showed us how to operate the system and to my luck it wasn’t too complicated…because tech stuff can be a little hard for me. Just show me which button to push and I am good!

Its an easy system that operates from a remote. You can program it to have all the screens open at once or each one to open/close individually. This is great especially if you are using it for control of the sun especially.

I love how durable the screens are without worry of them tearing or falling down. I had expressed concerns about the dog and they assured me that their screens have even gone through hurricanes.

With the app you can even set your screens to smart controls depending on time of day and schedule.

I am so happy to share this with you all now, as we are thinking ahead for spring and summer living again (ahh doesn’t that sound nice) and with products like Somfy offer you can find a local dealer near you and have your home be ready for better living in 2022.
