Well, we did it! I shared our design plans for our guest room about a month ago here and we finally finished the space. I was torn between going green or yellow and also wallpaper or paint. The honest truth I really wanted a yellow room somewhere but I also really imagined this space with wallpaper, but….I did not want to wallpaper. Paint would be a quick fix and wallpaper felt like just something I did not want to tackle right now, and so for that reason I chose just to paint.
But it wasn’t just any paint…we went bold and went yellow! The paint color is called celebration by Behr. I went through many yellow paint colors and almost chickened out and went with something a little less bold, and now I am so glad I stuck it out!
The color in this space is truly like having sunshine indoors. With the angles of the walls and the chunky white original molding it feels like the perfect compliment.
The rest of the room I tried to keep the budget super low. Recycles much of my vintage items I already had in here, and then added two new wooden vintage furniture pieces to really give that cozy cottage feel in here.
I added a “headboard” detail that I made from a piece of molding, a piece of foam, and a recycled comforter to give just that little pop of pattern but mostly to not hit your head on the window.
I think besides the paint the other showstopper is the scalloped natural woven rug.
We are so excited to host guests here and to truly have a retreat bed and breakfast feel to our third floor for when friends and family visit.
