I have been drooling over this image for the last few months now and I had to figure out a way to accomplish this look.
Ever since I was a little girl I had wanted a window seat and the first day I walked into this house, I knew that would be exactly what I would do is turn the bay window into one.
The first step to accomplishing this look was to create the window seat. After searching ways to accomplish this as easy as possible and as cheap as possible, I came across Beneathmyheart.net and her very easy tutorial by using plywood, fabric, and a staple gun.
The overall seat cost under $20
$6 for fabric (from Walmart)
$12 for the plywood (Lowes)
I chose a neutral fabric similar to the picture so I could keep my pattern in the pillows especially if I decided to switch them out with the different seasons.
The pillows cost about $50 the grey with the button from Christmas Tree Shop and the two striped from Target.
The Roman shades were quite an easy project also…just a little more time spent on them.
White Roman shades purchased from Lowes and 6 rolls of black grosgrain from Michaels.
I used fabric glue and attached the grosgrain to the roman shade and Walla!
This project was around $100 between the ribbon and white roman shades. If I had purchased the “real thing” from Pottery Barn I would have spent around $500 for them.
So Ready for the Reveal…
