Vintage Fall Decor

It’s time to plan for a new season, a cozy one. After a season of summer sometimes we choose to keep the home minimal, spend more outside, and think less about our interior spaces. With the new season approaching we start to think about being indoors again, filling our spaces with that cozy feeling, and even consider hosting with the holidays ahead. Its a favorite time of year for me because though I love summer its still a beautiful season ahead to enjoy. Fortunately, New Jersey has some of the best fall weather, so though we have to say goodbye to sun filled beach days our autumns are both cool and warm. We experience that new season of the changing leaves and fire pit weather, but can still be 75 degrees on Halloween depending on the year. So with all that said, lets think about our interiors again and how we can incorporate vintage fall style to our homes. I must admit vintage looks good in fall!

What are the essentials of vintage fall decorating:

  • Warm Textures: fleece blankets, wicker baskets
  • Amber, terracotta, dark pottery
  • Dried Florals in vintage vases
  • Vintage candle sticks
  • Brass & Copper
  • Artwork from autumn scenes, fruit, or with warm neutral backdrops
  • Natural elements like taxidermy, feathers, and dried florals

*pro tip: don’t over do it, many decorators and Pinterest accounts add too much “in your face” fall you can have a subtle approach without over doing the fall thing. So if you choose to add dried hydrangea pic a spot you don’t have to decorate your home like it’s a store. Candles are good always in large amounts for the take of the season, when you add in pumpkin think strategic you don’t need pumpkin fall out of your fireplace (that’s only fun in magazines). I promise I’ve done it all and I know good design means holding back sometimes.
