Well, it’s week 5 and that means the challenge is over…but we added one extra week since real-life room makeovers, sometimes need one more week. So be sure to stop over next week catch one last project here for this space. This New Year Room Refresh Challenge is hosted by my lovely friend Steph from Casa Watkins. If this is your first time stopping by, then the NYNRR Challenge is a 5 week makeover that a group of bloggers take part in with sponsored brands to help make the design possible. This past weekend, we were over at my MIL’s house doing the finishing touches like hardware and accessories. This budget kitchen makeover has come a long way since the brown 1970’s cabinets. This is the second makeover I’ve done in her home since moving in this past November. You can check out her living room dining room here.
Today’s the reveal…but we do have two more projects that we are going to be finishing up to share next week. For now…here’s where we are at and before we take a look at the reveal…let’s take one more look at the before Kitchen.
and the steps to get to where we are today…
Week 1: The design plans
Week 2: How Prep Kitchen Cabinets to Paint
Week 3: How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets
Week 4: Macrame Plant Hanger
What we accomplished:Â
Painting the Cabinets, New Hardware, Accent Rug, New Accessories, Bar Stools for seating.
What’s left:
Finish Glass Cabinet and add Shelves
Order more knobs since we did not receive enough for the makeover.
The New Kitchen Look!!!
Here’s my MIL enjoying her new kitchen. She’s loving this new home of her’s and having a fresh feel to the outdated space.
Celebrating a little since we are about 95% done!!! Stop by next week as I share how to create a glass cabinet and shelves.

Thank you Linda : )
Almost unrecognisable! Replacement kitchens are becoming more and more expensive all of the time, but this shows that with careful research and by applying thought and creativity, a kitchen really can be revitalized on a small budget. Well done Deb!
Thank you so much Tom! Yes, it is so treu…and I think there is always a way to make what you have better without spending a lot.
The kitchen is so bright & cheerful & pretty!
Thank you so much Marilyn.
SO beautiful, Deb!! I love the pulls you picked out! The stools and rug are lovely, too! I know first-hand how nice and refreshing it is to have a white kitchen after unattractive wood tone. Love it and it looks like your MIL does, too!
Thanks so much Rachael! yes, the white just made it so fresh and new.
what a difference- looks gorgeous! i love the new hardware and your client looks thrilled! 😉
Thank you so much Cassie! The hardware made quite the difference.
Wow!
Amazing kitchen makeover admin!
For $60p it isn’t that horrible considering what it looked like before, my kitchen looks quite similar minus the 70s tiles, all ugly laminate cabinets, and counter! I wouldn’t mind doing this to my kitchen to spruce it up a little.
Oh wonderful! Let me know how it turns out Sharon.
This is gorgeous! I love the hardware you selected, but what I love most is you did something nice for someone else. Your MIL must be thrilled!
Deb, this looks amazing and the before and after looks like a whole new space!!!!!!Love it!
It’s soooo cute! Love the white and brass and your MIL looks so happy!
Aww thank you Kathy!
What a big improvement. It looks like SOOOOO much work! Nicely done!
Thank you Jewel! Well the hardest part is painting the cabinets..it’s not hard more so time consuming. : )
Wow, Deb! It’s gorgeous! I need to show this to my aunt, who wants to do something different in her own kitchen. I think she’d love it too, knowing that just a few changes can make such a huge difference.
Thanks Iris! OH yay I hope your aunt likes it and wants to take on a similar project.
Those cabinets look SO chic with the fresh white paint! And I love the hardware you chose. It’s beautiful. I need those stools for my kitchen!
Thanks Corinna!
